It has been a long time since I have made New Year’s resolutions. Instead, several years ago, I began praying through a word that God might want to focus my growth and relationship with him in the coming year.
As we approached the holidays this year, I was spending a lot of time focusing on preparing my heart for the Advent. I hadn’t spent time asking God what he might want to do in 2020. However, isn’t it just like God to prepare my heart for the Advent and give me insight into what he could do in 2020? Last week, as I was praying through the Scripture in my Advent devotional, I got the strong impression on my heart and mind of the word – Deeper.
As I have prayed into this word, I get the clear sense that God wants to take me deeper into relationship with him and is asking me to walk in deeper relationships in every place I move. This is a complete confirmation of some other promptings I have sensed as we moved through the fall season.
Several months ago, I decided that I would spend 2020 working my way through a new book called, “Core 52: A Fifteen-Minute Daily Guide to Build Your Bible IQ in a Year.” I can’t think of a better way to go deeper in my relationship with Christ than to grow my ability to recognize his voice in my life and there’s no better way to grow my ability to recognize his voice than to understand who he is in his Word. Core 52 comes with online companion materials and videos. I can’t wait to dig into this tomorrow!
