My friend, Alan Danielson, over at his blog and on a new podcast has been talking a lot about missional small groups. I join Alan in the belief that mission is what sets groups apart. A group without mission is a group without purpose.
I have been reading “Simple Small Groups” by Bill Search and one quote jumped out at me.
Cultivating missional lives is not an event but a way of life.
This week, we will get back into regular posts talking about things that keep groups from living missional lives. This week we will be using the quote as a jumping point for our discussion. I invite you to join in! Leave some comments to help shape what this series will look like.

Has to be a way of life. If not we are not truly seeking out what Christ has called us to. Interesting thoughts.
I agree that it’s not just an event. We as pastors have to work to weave “mission” into the fabric of our lives and sermons…there’s no doubt about that. But I don’t think that using events to help facilitate that is a bad thing. Planning times to do “mission” can be a springboard for some people. It may be that, after an event, they finally “get” it.
