for a mentor. Not just any mentor. I am looking for someone who isn’t about turning me into a carbon-copy of themselves but helping me grow into myself. I am looking for someone who is interested in investing in me in a lot of different ways, but mostly in relational leadership, so that I can re-invest myself in someone else. I am looking for someone who is further down the road than me, but not so much further that they have forgotten what was like to be in my shoes. I am looking for a lasting ministry friendship. I am looking for encouragement and constructive criticism. I want to grow in my leadership. I want to go GRANDE.
Now, this isn’t an open advertisement for a mentor. This is a discussion. I need your help…
Do you have a mentor? How did that relationship start? Did you approach your mentor or did they approach you? Do you mentor someone else?
One response to “I’m searching…”
I don’t personally, but it sure would be nice if I did. I think in today’s time, this kind of person is extremely hard to come by. Everyone has filled up their life with being busy.
I was at the Straight Up Conference (organized by Harvest Bible Chapel) this year and C.J. Mahaney said that his dream is to train up pastors…to be a mentor and to do exactly what you are looking for. It would be nice if he could lead, or start, a ministry that focused on training people to be mentors. Not to make replicas, but to encourage and support and most importantly…issue grace.
So, um…sorry…but no, I don’t have one and I don’t know where you get one. 🙂 Good post though…
